Kindergarten Computer Curriculum

Identify various parts of the computer:
Monitor, CD – ROM, Printer, Keyboard, Mouse
Recognize and use upper and lower case letters
Recognize that the keys will repeat if held down
Recognize and use return key, space bar, arrow keys and shift key
Knowledge of home keys
Recognize number keys
Recognize function keys
Recognize the use of computer menu
Demonstrate knowledge of cursor
Utilize program software in computer lab to reinforce letters, numbers, reading and math.   

First Grade Computer Curriculum

Identify various parts of the computer: monitor, CD – ROM, keyboard (including ten key), print and mouse.
Recognize and use return key, space bar, shift key, backspace, arrow keys a and function keys.
Recognize and use upper case and lower case letters.
Recognize the location of the letter and number keys
Know the difference between zero and O
Use proper fingers on proper keys
Knowledge of home keys
Knowledge of computer menu
Knowledge and use of cursor
Utilize software programs at teacher direction.

Second Grade Computer Curriculum

Identify various parts of the computer, monitor, CD – ROM, keyboard (including ten key), printer
Recognize and use return key, space bar, shift key, backspace, arrow keys    and function keys.
Recognize that the keys will repeat if held down
Recognize the location of the letter and number keys
Recognize and use upper case and lower case letters
Knowledge and use of home keys and proper fingers on proper keys
Knowledge and use of computer menu
Knowledge and use of cursor
Knowledge of when to insert CD and know when it is appropriate to remove
Handle and use CD’s appropriately
Turn computer on and off… shut down appropriately
Utilize software programs at the teacher discretion
Microsoft Word used for writing and basic learning of tool bar change color, size, font, insert graphic, spell check 
Recognize the computer as and integral part of the learning environment

Third Grade Computer Curriculum

Expand on “ALL” of the above
Install programs independently from CD
Utilize increasingly complex programs at teacher direction, including writing and editing using spell check and other functions of Microsoft   Word.  Microsoft Word tool bar to be expanded with great knowledge
Recognize the computer as and integral part of the learning environment
Master keyboarding techniques under direction of teacher
Load and run programs independently
Implement and use the myriad of software in our computer lab
Introduce Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint

Fourth Grade Computer Curriculum

“ALL” of the above INCLUDING
Knowledge and use of the internet
Learn IBM environment including use of find function, save function, on/off procedures, warm boot, and pull down menus
Maintain individual CD and/or flash drive with personal writing
Extended editing skills
Master keyboarding skills under direction of computer teacher
Continue to utilize and greatly expand on Microsoft Word and expand the    introduction of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint
Utilize an array of software programs for extending learning math, grammar, spelling, reading, social studies, and science

Fifth Grade Computer Curriculum

Extend knowledge of IBM environment including loading and running software, retrieving personal writing, graphic enhancements, and care of machines
Extend keyboarding skills and strive to use only this technique when writing at the computer.  MASTER ALL functions of the keyboard
Set personal goal for speed and accuracy with keyboarding
Recognize the computer as an essential tool for doing the work of learning   and communicating
Knowledge and use of ON-LINE our internet service
Knowledge and use of E-MAIL and INTERNET RESEARCH
Expand on Excel
Knowledge of basic spreadsheet and graph insert
Expand on PowerPoint
Slide presentations
Microsoft Word writing, editing, spell check, font, color, inserting graphics, copy and paste from one document to another etc.  “ALL” tool bar functions
Implement and utilize the myriad of software in our computer lab.
